How to setting the cutting speed when use an intelligent High speed CNC band saw machine ?

In the cutting speed setting of intelligent high-speed sawing machines, factors such as material properties (hardness, thermal conductivity, toughness), saw blade type (material, tooth shape), material thickness, and cooling method need to be comprehensively considered. The following is a reference range for cutting speed of common materials (in line speed m/min), and the specific parameters need to be adjusted according to the equipment model and actual working conditions:
Material | Cutting speed (mm/min) | Explain |
Carbon Steel (Low Carbon Steel) | 30-60 | Low carbon content, easy to cut, can increase speed appropriately |
Stainless steel (304/316) | 15-30 | High hardness, poor thermal conductivity, requires low-speed cooperation with coolant |
Aluminum alloy | 80-120 | Soft material, high-speed low feed, to avoid sticking to the knife |
Copper/Brass | 40-70 | Good thermal conductivity, temperature needs to be controlled to prevent material deformation |
Titanium alloy | 5-15 | High hardness, low thermal conductivity, requiring extremely low speed and specialized saw blades |
Tool Steel (HSS) | 10-25 | High hardness, requiring low speed and sufficient cooling |
key factors
1. Material thickness: Increasing the thickness requires reducing the speed (such as 60m/min for 20mm carbon steel and 35m/min for 50mm).
2. Saw blade parameters:
-Tooth shape: Coarse teeth (6-10 TPI) are suitable for soft and thick materials, while fine teeth (14-24 TPI) are suitable for hard and thin materials.
-Material: Hard alloy saw blades (for cutting metal) are more heat-resistant than high-speed steel (HSS) and allow for higher speeds.
3. Cooling and lubrication: Metal cutting requires the use of cutting fluid or cold air system, while non-metallic materials may require dry cutting or jet dust removal
